5.31 ankle injury

Posted on December 21, 2006 by Andres Trevino

Don’t run at night…
The sun sets at around 4:30 PM and I went out at 6:11 PM. Running slow but one car came too close, I moved to the left and clack!! My left ankle fell in a gap between the pavement and some trees. I came to a complete stop and then walked for a little while and the pain went away and then continued running.
I finished 5.31 miles and noticed that my anckle was swolen.
A couple of hours later I had difficulty walking..
My coach said:

“rest, ice and elevate your ankle today. Ice for 20 min on and 20 min off for most of the day if you can. It’s probably a mild sprain.
Take it easy for today and if it’s sore tomorrow do the same.
Luckily those heal quickly, I’ve had many. :) “
